Lady X, Hell in a Handbag Productions at Mary's Attic, through June 19. Though it could do with some judicious trimming, this hilarious homage and spoof of film noir is filled with crooked mobsters, tough-talking dames and lots of gender-bending drageverything you would want in an evening of pure camp. War with the Newts, Next Theatre at Loyola Mullady Theatre, through June 20. History and sci-fi fantasy collide in this winning stage adaptation of Karel Capek's 1930s novel. Not only can you discern a message about the rise of fascism in the show, but also one on environmental exploitation that is particularly resonant. SCM
