The 31st Annual AIDS Run & Walk Chicago will now take place on Sunday, October 2. The annual event helps raise awareness and funds for individuals who are living with or vulnerable to HIV/AIDS across Chicagoland. This year's theme, Forward Together, aims to look beyond our current state and focus on what we can do to create a better future for people living with HIV and AIDS. Proceeds from the event will directly benefit AIDS Foundation Chicago (AFC), and the 30 CommunityDirect recipients that provide programs and services, including testing, for those living with or vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses. Between 90-92% of the total funds raised by CommunityDirect teams are returned to the organization. Since 2005, AFC has returned over $2.8 million to participating service providers.
There are a variety of ways interested participants can register for this year's event including:
In-person at Soldier Field
The traditional 5K, 10K and 5K Walk/Roll with festivities including resource booths, entertainment, free McDonald's breakfast, and the return of the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile.
At Your Own Pace, At Your Own Place
Participants can choose to fundraise from afar (min. of $50 required) for the cause and complete their race at a location of their choice, other than Soldier Field.
