On the evening of Sept. 14, Planned Parenthood Illinois Action (PPIA) and Planned Parenthood Illinois Action PAC (PPIA PAC) organizations presented their annual Fighting Forward Gala fundraiser.
The event shone the spotlight on victories and accomplishments in the fight for protections for patients and health providers in the last year, while also looking ahead to strategies for the upcoming election year.
The Richard J. Phalen Profile in Courage Award was given to Governor JB Pritzker, while the Trailblazer Award was given to Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner Precious Brady-Davis. The event, which was held at The Morgan Manufacturing Company at 401 N. Morgan St. also included a cocktail hour, a raffle, and a buffet catered by Boka Restaurant and Catering. Co-chairs for the event included State Reps. Nikki Budzinski, Delia Ramirez and Eric Sorenson.
In a press release, PPIA President and CEO Jennifer Welch said, "This is one of the most important evenings for our supporters. Together we are celebrating recent legislative victories that strengthen protections for providers and patients in Illinois and those forced to flee from another state, expand access to abortion and gender-affirming care, and ensure Illinois continues to be a haven in the Midwest."
