On June 23, the Chicago White Sox held their annual Pride Night. The Baltimore Orioles were that night's opponent.
During the White Sox celebration of Pride Night, presented by Vizzy, wives and significant others of the Sox players and coaches welcomed teens from Howard Brown Health (HBH) and Center on Halsted to enjoy the game from a ballpark suite. Local artist Brie Hines joined the group to design and paint sneakers for Chicago's upcoming Pride Parade.
Among other scheduled highlights were the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus performing the national anthem as well as ceremonial first pitches from Brave Space Alliance founder/executive director LaSaia Wade; 2013 Miss Continental and former RuPaul's Drag Race contestant Naysha Lopez; and Julianne Sitch, a former Chicago Red Stars player and current head men's soccer coach at the University of Chicago.
There was also a pre-game ceremony recognizing Chaneyville, an all-girls baseball team supported by the White Sox, and the 50th anniversary of Title IX.
In addition, White Sox closer Liam Hendrikswho, alongside his wife Kristi, is a long-standing ally of the LGBTQ+ communityraised the Pride Flag at Guaranteed Rate Field.
