The amfAR gala, the highlight of the famed Cannes Film Festival, returned as a glamorous in-person event May 26 at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, according to a press release.
amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is one of the world's leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education and advocacy. Since 1985, amfAR has invested nearly $617 million in its programs and has awarded more than 3,500 grants to research teams worldwide.
More than $19 million were raised for amfAR's HIV/AIDS research programs. Actor, director and producer Robert de Niro was the guest of honor at the event. The black-tie evening included a dinner; a live auction of luxury one-of-a kind items and contemporary art; a fashion show; and performances by Christina Aguilera, Ricky Martin and Charli XCX.
Guests included Tom Hanks, Casey Affleck, Eva Longoria, Milla Jovovich, Vanessa Hudgens, Michelle Rodriguez, Naomi Campbell, Baz Luhrmann, Cynthia Erivo, Lakeith Stanfield, Tommy Hilfiger, Edgar Ramirez, Alex Pettyfer, Alton Mason, Coco rocha, Boris Kodjoe, Candice Swanepoel, Cara Delevingne, Charlotte McKinney, Claire Foy, Ciara, Shaun White, Winnie Harlow, HIV/AIDS activist Phill Wilson and Zoey Deutch, among others.
The fashion show featured designers such as Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Gucci, Chanel, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Fendi, Tom Ford, Jacquemus, Valentino, Giambattista Valli, Armani, Alaia, Versace, Dior and more.
