Mitchell Anderson at HRC Jan. 10 event
Hollywood star Mitchell Anderson (Party of Five) will attend a Human Rights Campaign, will be the featured speaker at Chicago’s Out At the Top event, part of a national series of events.
The Chicago event is at Spiaggia, Wed., Jan. 10, 7 p.m., 980 N. Michigan, 3rd floor.
ENTERTAINMENT LINE-UP FOR LCCP
Grammy Award-winning DJ Frankie Knuckles, Gay & Lesbian Music Award Winners SONiA Rutstein and Cindy Frank (making up disappear fear), and BMG recording artist Kristen Hall lead the entertainment lineup at this year’s Lesbian Community Cancer Project “Coming Out Against Cancer Benefit” (COAC).
Scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 20, at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Drive, the event features two rooms with entertainment running from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Presented by American Airlines and sponsored by dozens of local and national companies, this benefit marks the 10th Anniversary Year of LCCP.
This year’s COAC Co-Chairs, Renae Ogletree, Lin Bartucca, and Priscilla Warren, are proud to announce the lineup.
Tickets are $50 for regular admission and $100 for premium admission. The $100 ticket includes reserved parking and a gift bag of giveaways. Melissa Etheridge is a finalist for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for “Enough of Me” on her Breakdown album. George Michael is nominated for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for Songs from the Last Century, and Ned Rorem is up for Best Classical Contemporary Composition. The Best Musical Show Album category has three gay composers (surprise) : Elton John (Aida), Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party), Cole Porter (Kiss Me, Kate’s revival). Barbra Streisand’s Timeless—Live in Concert is up for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album. Sweet Honey in the Rock’s Still the Same Me is nominated for Best Musical Album for Children. Unfortunately, Eminem’s The Marshall Mathers LP is up for Album of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Solo Performance for The Real Slim Shady track.
Compensation, a new film directed by Zeinabu Irene Davis, tells two parallel love stories about the relationship between a deaf woman and a hearing man and their confrontations with AIDS and tuberculosis, set in early 20th century and present-day Chicago.
