The big-name Hollywood stars took most of the trophies at Sunday night’s Academy Awards, with Before Night Falls star Javier Bardem losing to Russell Crowe’s Gladiator for Best Actor Oscar.

Best Actress went to Julia Roberts for her Erin Brockovich, while Gladiator also took the night’s top honor, Best Picture. Brockovich director Steven Soderbergh won Best Director, but for his other Y2K film, Traffic.

Benicio del Torro won Best Supporting actor for his wonderful turn in Traffic, while Marcia Gay Harden won Supporting Actress for her role in Pollock opposite Ed Harris.

Cameron Crowe won for Best Original Screenplay for Almost Famous, while Stephen Gaghan won for Adapted Screenplay for Traffic. Traffic also won the Film Editing award.

Crouching Tiger, hidden Dragon may have lost for Best Picture, but it did win for Best Foreign Language Film, and it also won for Art Direction and Original Score.

The gay-themed Wonder Boys was mostly shut out of awards, but its song “Things Have Changed” did win for Best Original Song. Into the Arms of Strangers won for Best Documentary Feature.
