The Greater Chicago Committee has announced more 2001 Bayard Rustin Award winners.

Alma Crawford and Karen Hutt of Church of the Open Door will be named Community Activists of the Year; Affinity is the Social Organization of the Year; D&E Entertainment is the Business of the Year; Adodi is the Community Organization of the Year, and Rails Entertainment is the Party of the Year.

Dr. George Roberts of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will receive the Board of Directors Award for “his innovative approach to ensure that communities of color fully participated in the awarding of Federal monies in order to be part of the battle against HIV/AIDS,” the agency said in a release.

Earlier, GCC announced that Lorrainne Sade Baskerville will also be honored with an award for her work with the trans community. Cook County Circuit Court Clerk Dorothy Brown will receive the Founders Award.
