The American Veterans for Equal Rights will again hold Veteran’s Day Ceremonies, with Chicago’s a tribute to the late Allen Schindler. On Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m., the Chicago Chapter of AVER will hold a Remembrance ceremony at the grave of Allen Schindler in Steger, Ill. Dorothy Hadjys-Holman, Allen’s mother, will participate. On Monday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m. the Chicago Chapter of AVER will participate in the City of Chicago’s traditional Veterans Day Ceremonies. AVER will place a wreath at the Eternal Flame in honor of all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered veterans who have served this country.
The Chicago Chapter of AVER will hold its 10th “with liberty and justice for all” Veterans Day Dinner at Ann Sather’s, 929 W. Belmont. Guests Speakers will be: Mrs. Dorothy Hadjys-Holman, mother of Seaman Allen Schindler, murdered Oct. 27, 1992, and Patricia Kutteles, mother of Pfc Barry Winchell, murdered July 5, 1999.
