The Cider House Rules, Part 1; Famous Door at Victory Gardens, through April 5. A big ensemble show taking on the entire 80 year sweep of John Irving’s novel (unlike the film). Ace acting by Daniel Kuhlman as Homer and Larry Neumann, Jr. as Larch. (Abarbanel)

Judgment at Nuremberg, Shattered Globe at Victory Gardens, through March 2. The 1948 war crimes trial of Nazi Germany’s highest judges is a shattering, riveting show by one of our most quietly-talented theater companies; a perfect union of artistry and craft. (Reed)

A Pair of Pinters: Victoria Station & The Room; Raven Theatre, through Feb. 23. The plays are over 30 years old and British to boot, but Teri McCaskill and her ensemble impose a distinctly American subtext on Pinter’s enigmatic one-acts. (Barnidge)

Poseidon, An Upside Down Musical; Hell in a Handbag at Bailiwick, through Feb. 23. This unabashed camp extravaganza brings on the laughs with the force of a monster tidal wave. An off-kilter, loads-of-fun homage to the grandpa of all disaster flicks. (Reed)
