The 2003 Unsung Heroine Award for Cook County’s 10th District will be awarded to Renae Ogletree, the director of the Youth Services Division of The Chicago Department of Human Services in a public breakfast ceremony, at the Chicago Cultural Center March 27. Cook County Commissioner Mike Quigley, D-10, and Women’s Commissioner Gail Morse selected Ogletree for her unrivaled leadership and passion in the areas of diversity, youth services and healthcare.
‘I am excited that Renae is the 2003 10th District Unsung Heroine. She is recognized as a leader on youth issues and in the gay and lesbian community because of her ability to bring together underrepresented groups and make their needs and concerns appreciated by the entire community. She is the model for the type of woman this award was designed to celebrate,’ said Commissioner Morse.
The Unsung Heroine Award is given annually during a ceremony held in observance of Women’s History Month, by the Cook County Commission on Women’s Issues in conjunction with the Cook County Board of Commissioners. Awards are presented to 17 women, one from each District of Cook County, in recognition of the women who have had an impact on their communities.
