On Saturday, April 26, there will be three fundraisers for Howard Dean, former governor of Vermont, in the Chicago area. Howard Dean signed Civil Unions into law April 26, 2000, making Vermont the first and only state where same-sex couples can obtain rights similar to married heterosexual couples. April 26 is the 3rd anniversary of the enactment of Civil Unions.

Howard Dean is running for the Democratic nomination to defeat George W. Bush in 2004. The parties are part of more than 100 around the U.S. that day.

The fundraisers will be held in Chicago in the Lincoln Square neighborhood, in Skokie and in Naperville. Call (312) 497-0423; groups.yahoo.com/group/illinois_for_dean/.n
