Saturday, May 24: Memorial Day Wreathlaying, 11 a.m. There will be many organizations present for this event which will be held this year at The Eternal Flame in Daley Plaza, Dearborn & Washington.

Saturday, May 24: City of Chicago’s 7th Annual Memorial Day Parade—Noon. Since the rebirth of the Parade GLBVA/AVER has always participated in the largest Memorial Day Parade in the country. There are over 200 units in the parade, and we are the only GLBT contingent. Call (773) 752-0058. Chicago’s Lakeside Freedom Marching Band will be marching with AVER.

Sunday, May 25: Wreathlaying Ceremony at Allen Schindler’s grave in Evergreen Hill Memorial Park, Steger, Ill. At 10 a.m. they will assemble at Allen Schindler’s grave in Steger, for a wreathlaying ceremony. Dorothy Hadjys-Holman, Allen’s mother, will be one of the speakers. (773) 752-0058.

AVER will try to provide vehicles leaving from in front of the Chicago Theatre at 9 a.m. This is the 11th year anniversary of Allen Schindler’s murder.
