Ronald W Schlittler, friend to many in Chicago, departed this life in San Diego, Dec. 3, 2002. Ron was born in Pennsylvania March 13, 1934. He attended high school there and graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Penn. He studied for the ministry here in Chicago at the Chicago Lutheran Theological Seminary. He was ordained as a Lutheran pastor and service churches in Wisconsin, where he was active in the civil-rights marches with Father Groppi in Milwaukee.
Ron left the ministry and went into social service in Ohio. He came to Chicago to work at Williams Electronics in Chicago, where he was an inventory control clerk until health problems caused him to retire.
He was active in the early ’80s at Good Shepherd Parish Metropolitan Community Church where he served on the Board of Directors during Rev. F. Jay Deacon’s pastorate. He later relocated to San Diego where he became active in the San Diego Metropolitan Community Church.
Ron leaves to celebrate and remember his life his mother, two sisters, two brothers, an extended family and many friends in the Chicago Area. There will be a Memorial Meal on May 31. Contact David Owen at (773) 338-8150 or Paul Popiel at (773) 960-6276 for time and place.
