Calling himself ‘a lawyer at heart, not a politician,’ John H. Ehrlich announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for Cook County Circuit Court Judge in the 8th Subcircuit.
‘I believe deeply in our legal process and in the need to ensure that fairness, accountability and a respect for diversity are at its core in Cook County,’ Ehrlich said. ‘I’ve spent my adult life trying to improve our judicial system and make it work for everyone. I’ve worked hard to represent the interests of Chicago taxpayers in the City’s Law Department and supervised dozens of public attorneys involved in complicated legal matters, but I want to make a greater contribution to our community. I think I can make a real difference on the bench.’

Ehrlich is Chief Assistant Corporation Counsel for Chicago, serving as a leader in the Torts Division. He oversees a docket of high-profile cases and protects the interests of Chicago’s taxpayers in the courtroom. He also serves as an adjunct professor of law at Northwestern University Law School. Ehrlich served on the Board of Directors of the Lesbian and Gay Bar Association of Chicago and on the Alliance of Bar Associations for Judicial Screening. He is also a member of the Chicago Council of Lawyers and served on the Board of Directors of the AIDS Living Remembrance Project.
Ehrlich and his partner, Dr. Ulf Henricsson, are long-time residents of Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.Campaign Chair Darwin also announced that attorneys John Kelly and Jim Dunn had agreed to serve as Finance Co-Chairs for the Committee to Elect John H. Ehrlich.
