AIDS Foundation of Chicago is spearheading a letter-writing campaign to urge Mayor Daley to increase city funding for HIV prevention by $1 million. Daley will release his proposed budget by Oct. 15—and the Health Department is expected to take a 14% cut in funding.

Since 1997, the city’s funding for HIV prevention has decreased 8%. Chicago broke the 20,000 cases mark this year—only 8,930 of those individuals are still alive.
