Gerber/Hart Library will honor Illinois contributors to the ‘Encyclopedia of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender History in America’ at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2. The reference work, published by Scribner’s, contains 500 entries and is the most comprehensive on LGBT American history ever published.

Eighteen Illinois contributors wrote a total of 35 entries for the encyclopedia. Local contributors include John D’Emilio, Marie Kuda and Yvonne Welbon. Contributors will summarize one of their entries. Entries of local interest include Henry Gerber, The Society for Human Rights, Pearl Hart and Valerie Taylor.
