The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that Chicago House has been selected as the lead agency of a multi-agency HIV Prevention With Positives Grant. The five-year project will focus on HIV prevention with people already living with HIV. AIDS housing partners Chicago House, Alexian Brothers Bonaventure House, Featherfist, and Heartland Alliance’s Raphael Center plan to integrate prevention case management into their existing HIV care case management services. Test Positive Aware Network will serve as the training, testing and counseling agency.
‘We are so excited about this opportunity,’ said the Rev. Stan Sloan, CEO of Chicago House. ‘With CDC funding, we will be able to continue the important work of stemming the spread of HIV in Chicago that the AIDS Foundation, the Hearts Foundation, and our donors helped us begin. We are also looking
forward to partnering with TPAN and a group of diverse housing agencies in pioneering a new model for HIV/AIDS collaboration.’
Charles E Clifton, executive director of TPAN continues, ‘This is an incredible opportunity. Providing TEAM training to case managers and individuals at these leading agencies will assure consistent and correct messages about HIV being delivered citywide. The individuals impacted by this program will have the opportunities to live better stronger lives.’
