The Event: Part mystery, part human drama and a good dose of humor, this film directed by Thom Fitzgerald (The Hanging Garden, Beefcake) is an ensemble piece headed by Olympia Dukakis and indie-darling Parker Posey. When ‘Matt’ (Don McKellar), sick from AIDS insists on dying at home with his friends and family present, some serious legal and ethical questions arise. Meanwhile, ‘Nick,’ (Posey), a hard-nosed New York detective, investigates a series of unexplained deaths in New York’s Chelsea district. As she interviews family members of the deceased she begins to uncover the truth behind these ‘events.’

Sugar Sweet: One of the very first Japanese films about lesbians, Sugar Sweet focuses on ‘Naomi,’ a TV series director by day and porn director by night. In a moment of despair ‘Naomi’ divulges her secret to an on-line confidante. Soon our heroine finds herself in the director’s chair of the first girl-meets-girl matchmaking show.

Speed Demon: ‘Jesse’ returns home from college to find that his brother has joined a ferocious gang of hot-rodders. However, a mysterious driver in an ominous muscle car begins to hunt down and kill the gang members one by one.

9 Dead Gay Guys: This riotously funny comedy follows two Irish lads as they leave their homes in Dublin and head to London ‘to make it big.’ When the reality of the big city sets in… our charming young lads set their sights on rich older gents who are willing help finance the duo’s escapades.
