The board of the Log Cabin Republicans Chicago chapter is appalled by statements made by Illinois U.S. Senate Candidate Alan Keyes. Speaking at an anti-gay marriage rally in Chicago’s Marquette Park on Oct 16, Keyes said that incest is ‘inevitable’ for the children of gay and lesbian parents.
This message is the latest in a series of comments that has outraged the group, including when Keyes called homosexuals ‘selfish hedonists.’ The Log Cabins consider Keyes’ comments to be ‘outrageous, unfounded and very painful to Illinois gays and lesbians, especially those with children.’ The rally in Marquette Park was part of a statewide ‘United We Stand—Defending Marriage’ bus tour.
‘Alan Keyes should apologize for his statement immediately. … Voters from the state of Lincoln and Reagan deserve a better candidate than someone from another state who uses his campaign as a platform to insult Illinois residents,’ the Log Cabin statement reads.
The Chicago Log Cabin Republicans is the Illinois chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans based in Washington D.C.
