The anti-gay Illinois Family Institute (IFI), in a move that will probably attract same-sex marriage advocates, will hold a rally at the Howlett Building in Springfield, March 9, from 10 – 11 a.m.
According to its Web site, the rally will continue the United We Stand—Defending Marriage tour of the state. The tour has held pro-‘traditional’ marriage rallies in 14 cities.
On Oct. 16, 2004 the first two of 14 ‘United We Stand—Defending Marriage’ rallies were held in Chicago’s Marquette Park and Elmhurst’s Wilder Park. The events drew more pro-gay marriage advocates than IFI members and supporters; 50 same-sex marriage supporters appeared in Chicago and 100 showed up in Elmhurst.
