Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) Chicago is hosting a town hall meeting Feb. 20 that will feature leaders of the LGBT community. The meeting, entitled ‘The Next Four Years: Now What?,’ is a panel discussion involving the protection of LGBT rights.

The meeting will be held at the Broadway United Methodist Church, 3344 N. Broadway, 2:30-4:30 p.m. and will feature, among others, Rick Garcia of Equality Illinois; Chicago Ald. Tom Tunney; and John Cepek, the national vice president of PFLAG.

PFLAG Chicago coordinator Brad Fuhr will moderate the session. ‘While PFLAG is known for being an organization assisting family members and friends of LGBT loved ones, we want to involve the entire community in this discussion,’ Fuhr stated in a PFLAG Chicago release.

In January, PFLAG and 22 national organizations released a joint statement that contained eight common priorities, including safe schools, the half of anti-LGBT violence, and equal marriage rights. These issues and others will be discussed.
