Mark Kline, M.D., director of the Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative at the Baylor College of Medicine (in Houston), will discuss the global impact of HIV/AIDS on children at a community forum on March 9 at the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Randolph, 6-7:30 p.m. According to a press release from event sponsor Abbott Laboratories, Kline will be accompanied by a panel of Chicago-based HIV/AIDS pediatric experts who will bring a local perspective to HIV/AIDS issues facing youth. Kline’s work has been one of the most recognized ‘success stories’ in fighting HIV/AIDS, including his groundbreaking work to dramatically reduce the pediatric AIDS mortality rate by more than 90 percent (15 percent to 3 percent) in Romania.
The lecture is part of a series of community events organized by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago to mark its 20th year in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The Chicago Cultural Center’s photography exhibit ‘Pandemic: Imaging AIDS’ also will be on display.
RSVP to Jessica Joslin at (312) 922-2322.
