Nigaah, the South Asian Queer Film Festival, will be April 8-9. Nigaah is an Urdu word that means ‘perspective’—one that sees and celebrates difference, and recognizes individuals and desires beyond socially sanctioned ideas of ‘normal’ or ‘natural’ sexual behaviour.

The program features films and speakers at two unique and special all-day film festivals featuring queer films from South Asia and the South Asian diaspora. The films and the panel discussion will be duplicated on both days, and on two ends of the city (Chicago Filmmakers and University of Chicago) in order to enable a wide crosssection of people to attend. April 8, Chicago Filmmakers, 4-10 p.m. 5243 N. Clark St., (773) 293-1447. April 9, University of Chicago, 12-5 Exact location TBA. See home.uchicago.edu/~gbhan/.
