Tamale Sepp, 26, has been using her artistic talents to constantly benefit people, including those in the LGBT community. After graduating from Second City’s Conservatory Program, she wrote and performed the one-woman show Painted Mirrors as part of Damsels in Distress. She left directly from the show to attend Burning Man in Nevada, where she won first place in a competition with an improvised burlesque act. She then returned home to host the Saturday Night Showcase for Estrojam 2004 and later co-host the International Drag King Extravaganza 2004. In addition, Tamale has performed at The Bondage Night for tsunami victims, the LCCP ‘L Word’ benefit, and the Anti-Valentine’s Show.
This year, she traveled with Chix Mix to Michigan. She was flown out to Washington, D.C., to host and perform in the Kitty Victorian burlesque show and traveled to Ireland and then Berlin as part of the Windy City Blenders. While in Ireland, Tamale was booked as part of A Lesbian Art Festival to perform stand-up comedy. Locally, Tamale is submitting a proposal to After School Matters to teach Chicago high school students the improv comedy curriculum she has developed. She is currently considering several teaching positions for the fall.
Additionally, Tamale has been named bartender of the month, was a judge for Windy City Gay Idol, and has donated items for the Mobtown Moxie Revue Auction.
