With the fall just around the corner, the number of political events is starting to heat up—with some elections in 2006, some in 2007. Ald. Tom Tunney held a series of campaign benefits last week to mark his 50th birthday. He’s pictured (#2) with City Treasurer Judy Rice and political fundraiser Nan Schaffer at an event at Metro Aug. 17. The next night, Schaffer hosted a benefit at her home for environmental activist Debra Shore, who is running for the clout-heavy Cook County Water Reclamation District board. She gave a passionate speech about the critical issues related to water conservation. Photos from Shore’s event.
