Two businesses in the Lakeview neighborhood were among the targets in a series of robberies, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In total, seven North Side businesses have been held up since July 30, said Chicago Police Detective Dominick Ciccola. Police, who have issued an alert seeking help in catching the robbers, believe the same people committed the crimes. One suspect is a man 30 to 35 years old, who is sometimes accompanied by another man and a female. The suspects wield a small, silver gun, the community alert said.

On July 30, a man walked into Leather Sport, 3503 N. Halsted, and waited for other customers to leave before asking for help, said manager Jon Batuzich. He was recounting what an employee told him as he was not on the sales floor at the time.

Marlene Torres, owner of Mr. Video at 3356 N. Broadway, said that a shopper interrupted a robbery that took place shortly after 11 a.m. on Aug. 8.

Other businesses allegedly robbed by the same suspects were Fabrice, 1714 N. Wells; Hubbard’s Adult Book Store, 109 W. Hubbard; Sheridan Food and Liquors, 733 W. Sheridan; and Down Under, 2136 N. Halsted. The latest heist occurred Aug. 19 at the General Nutrition Center, 1237 N. Clybourn.
