Up-and-coming Chicago artist Erik Sosa received the VOX/Out Emerging Voices of Style + Design Award at Sidetrack July 27.
‘It’s overwhelming, but it’s also a little bit humbling anytime you are being adulated or congratulated for something you love doing,’ he said. ‘I feel happy, glad, overwhelmed and proud at the same time. You don’t know where something is going to take you. Life is unpredictable that way.’
Sosa was the first of five honorees nationwide to be recognized. Sosa is a self-taught Mexican-American artist born in Mexico City and raised in the Ravenswood/Uptown area.
