Season 27 of the Nine to Twelve bowling league begins at 9 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 17 at River-Rand Bowl in Des Plaines. The longest-running GLBT bowling league in suburban Chicago kicks off another season with a full house of 24 teams.

Don’t let a full house deter you from checking out this league and the newer sister league (Season 2) Nine to Twelve 9 Pin No-Tap. There are always spaces for extra bowlers to sub in the regular Nine to Twelve League. The Nine to Twelve No Tap is an expansion of the first league and starts in October. There are still openings for individuals or teams.

The regular Nine to Twelve league starts in September and takes place on the third Saturday of each month. Nine to Twelve No-Tap is on the first Saturday of the month and starts Oct. 1. Each league bowls once a month.

River Rand bowl is easy to reach from Chicago or the suburbs. It is located on River Road just north of Rand Road. Take the Tri-State (I-294) to the Dempster westbound exit following around to Rand. Travel one mile northwest on Rand, turn right onto River Road, go 1/4 mile and you are there.
