Chicago’s Crew bar held its second annual McCutcheon Elementary Holiday Luncheon Dec. 21. Crew closed its doors to the public and opened them to the sixth-grade class for some good food and holiday fun. ‘It’s something we all look forward to,’ said Brian Wells, one of Crew’s owners. ‘It’s what Christmas is all about.’ Billy Spicher, the bar’s general manager said ‘The school is just down the street from Crew and it’s an easy way to be part of a larger community. We want to be more than a gay bar.’
McCutcheon Elementary School is located on Sheridan Road in Uptown. Approximately 90% of the student body lives in shelters or subsidized housing.
