The 63rd Annual Golden Globes awards show turned pink for a night as films with LGBT themes as characters swept various categories. The gay cowboy movie Brokeback Mountain won Best Picture (Drama) as well as three other awards, while Philip Seymour Hoffman took home the award for Best Actor (Drama) for his role as writer Truman Capote in Capote and Felicity Huffman prevailed in the Best Actress (Drama) category for her role as transsexual Bree in Transamerica.

The award winners are considered front-runners to be Academy Award nominees. The nominations will be announced Jan. 31.

According to the Sydney Star Observer, this was the first time three gay-themed films won top honors at a single Golden Globe Awards. The last queer winners were Charlize Theron in Monster in 2003, Hillary Swank’s 1999 win for Boys Don’t Cry and Tom Hanks’ 1993 win for Philadelphia.

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) praised the success of LGBT-inclusive movies such as Brokeback Mountain.

The awards event was also interesting because of the questions and actions of gay fashion designer and TV interviewer Isaac Mizrahi. According to sources, including UPI and Sky.com, he grabbed the cleavage of actress Scarlett Johansson as he talked with her in a pre-event interview. When she asked what he was doing, Mizrahi replied that he was ‘just taking notes.’

However, Mizrahi was rather in-your-face with other celebrities as well. He poked his finger down Desperate Housewives actress Teri Hatcher’s cleavage in an attempt to find her acceptance speech and asked Sarah Jessica Parker how much of her hair was real. Lastly, he told Hatcher’s co-star Marcia Cross, ‘You know who loves redheads? My dog.’
