Chicago organizers of the 2006 Gay Games have announced that more than 8,000 participants from more than 30 countries are committed to attending the 7th Gay Games, which will take place July 15-22.
‘Year-end campaigns designed to increase the number of registrations in team sports were wildly successful and the pace hasn’t slowed much since Jan. 1,’ stated Brian McGuinness, Gay Games executive director. As evidence of the event’s success so far, he added that sailing has been closed for nearly a year and that golf has also reached its capacity. Moreover, several team sports saw dramatic increases in registration during December, according to Nancy Harris, Gay Games sports director.
