Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) has announced the launch of the first comprehensive cancer survivor’s survey to determine the needs and experiences of LGBT individuals with a history of cancer.

According to the National Cancer Institute Office of Cancer Survivorship, an individual is considered a cancer survivor from the time of diagnosis, through the balance of his or her life. There is currently no systematic information available to guide the development of post-treatment medical, behavioral, and psychosocial care for LGBT cancer survivors. This survey, sponsored by HBHC, the Lesbian Community Cancer Project and the University of Illinois at Chicago, will be used to develop the first-ever LGBT cancer survivors’ research center.

The online survey takes approximately 30 minutes, and covers a range of issues associated with cancer diagnosis and treatment, emotional response to cancer, and services that one may need as a cancer survivor.

The survey can be accessed on Howard Brown’s home page at www.howardbrown.org. Contact Christina Santiago at (773) 388-8993 or e-mail christinas@howardbrown.org.
