Howard Brown Health Center (HBHC) has announced a new partnership designed to help senior citizens (re-)enter the workforce.
The partnership, with the Chicago Federation of Labor Workers Assistance Committee’s (CFL-WAC) Senior AIDES Program, assists low-income seniors into the workforce through community collaboration, according to an HBHC press release. Seniors earn $6.50 an hour from the CFL-WAC and receive job training by ‘volunteering’ at a local non-profit. In this mutualistic relationship, the seniors are encouraged to find unsubsidized work while acquiring skills—and non-profit organizations such as HBHC get the extra help they need.
The seniors will work at HBHC’s Sheridan Road location, at TRIAD health practice and at the Brown Elephant resale shops. For more information, see www.cflwac.org or contact Jamie Graves at (312) 565-9431.
