Talk-show host/comedienne/actress Ellen DeGeneres has been the subject of two very different developments.
DeGeneres is about to add another awards telecast to her résumé after being named the host of the Academy Awards, which will take place Feb. 25, 2007, according to USA Today. It will mark her first Oscar appearance; however, she has hosted the Emmys twice—the first time came days after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Her response to the selection? ‘There’s two things I’ve always wanted to do in my life. One is to host the Oscars. The second is to get a call from [Oscars telecast producer] Laura Ziskin. You can imagine that day’s diary entry.’
Apparently, someone is watching over the entertainer. Days before the season premiere of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the host walked away from a three-car accident in West Hollywood, Calif., United Press International reported.
DeGeneres and her girlfriend, actress Portia de Rossi, were involved in an accident on Sept. 1 with a car carrying two paparazzi and a potential drunk driver, but everyone walked away practically unharmed.
