In the Life, the award-winning gay and lesbian newsmagazine, will mark 15 years on public television in October.
The premiere of the milestone year will feature the powerful story of Elk Grove Village native and former U.S. Army Specialist Jeff Howe, who was discharged Aug. 3, 2005, from the Army for posting a profile on Connexion.org, an online LGBT community site. In the film, Howe, 32, speaks about the unusual circumstances that lead to his dismissal from the Army during a second tour of duty in Iraq.
In the Life launched in 1992 and became the country’s first regularly scheduled gay-themed program. A three-time Emmy nominee, the show currently airs monthly on 246 public television stations nationwide (WTTW-11 locally), reaching approximately 70 percent of all U.S. households.
In the Life’s 15th season premiere airs in Chicago on Channel 11, Oct. 9 at 12:30 a.m. For additional information about In the Life, please visit www.inthelifetv.org.
