The 25th anniversary celebration of Chicago Women in Trades (CWIT) will take place Nov. 3 at Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington, 6 p.m.—and it promises to be a one-of-a-kind affair.

First and foremost, ‘Building for our Future’ will feature a gala dinner honoring tradeswomen as well as industry and community partners. The keynote speaker will be Michael Alter, a Chicago developer and owner of the Chicago Sky WNBA team.

In addition, guests will be able to bid on the agency’s hot-pink hard hats that will be autographed by local and national celebrities. Among the celebrity autographs secured so far are those of singer Ani DiFranco, Senator Dick Durbin, writer Nora Ephron, activist Gloria Steinem, the Chicago Blackhawks and the cast of the upcoming Steppenwolf production Sonia Flew.

Among those who will receive Silver Anniversary Awards are The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (an industry partner); Ciara Smith, who will be honored as a Tradeswoman of Tomorrow; and Sarah Stigler, a fourth-year plumbers’ apprentice who is a former Windy City Times 30 Under 30 honoree.
