Jubilate (pronounced YOO-buh-LAH-tay), Chicago’s annual showcase of music and dance, will return to the Harris Theater in Millennium Park, 205 E. Randolph, on Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
This year’s performances will include the American mezzo-soprano Susanne Mentzer; world-renowned classical violinist Rachel Barton Pine; dance troupe Hubbard Street 2; the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus; dance theater company Hedwig Dances; ensemble singers Chicago a cappella; physical comedians Actors Gymnasium; classical performing company Ballet Chicago; percussive dance and tap troupe BAM!; and cabaret artists Amy Armstrong and Freddy Allen.
Guests are invited to join Mentzer and other artists at ‘From the Heart,’ a pre-performance reception held at the Harris Theater at 5 p.m. From 5-7:30 p.m., guests can participate in Mad Hatter, a silent auction featuring hats and other items autographed by local and national celebrities.
This year’s event will also feature an individual and an organization being honored by Alexian Brothers AIDS Ministry (ABAM), the host of the event. The 2006 President’s Award will be presented to Keith Elliott, founder of Dance for Life. The Alexian Award of Excellence will be presented to Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA/Chicago).
