Howard Brown Health Center has announced that it will be providing free HIV testing and counseling on World AIDS Day, Dec. 1.

No appointment is necessary for the testing. People can go to either Howard Brown, 4025 N. Sheridan, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., or Broadway Youth Center, 3179 N. Broadway, 1-9 p.m.

The health center is a member of the Chicagoland World AIDS Day 2006 committee, in partnership with the Chicago Department of Public Health STD/HIV/AIDS Public Policy and Programs; the office of Congressman Danny K. Davis; and other community organizations. This year’s event will involve citywide free HIV testing; a health expo at the Thompson Center and Daley Center; and a Gospel Shout Out at Malcolm X College in the evening. For more info, call 311.

In other World AIDS Day news, Howard Brown is once again partnering with a Chicago icon, Garrett Popcorn Shops, which will be donating a percentage of all store and online orders to Howard Brown for the entire day of Friday, Dec. 1. Order online at www.garrettpopcorn.com, call 888-4-POPCORN or visit one of the chain’s five Chicago locations (4 E. Madison, 26 W. Randolph, 2 W. Jackson, 670 N. Michigan, and 500 W. Madison).
