Bailiwick Repertory will present the Chicago premiere of Paula Vogel’s bittersweet comedy The Oldest Profession as the second event in its anniversary celebration, Bailiwick@25!, and the second event of its new Second Sex Series.

The plot is as follows: As Ronald Reagan enters the White House, five aging practitioners of the oldest profession are faced with a diminishing clientele, increased competition for their niche market—and aching joints. With wit, compassion and humor, they struggle to fight to stay in ‘The Life’ as a new dawn begins in America.

The opening night for The Oldest Profession is Wed., Jan. 17, at 8 p.m. (The $30 cost includes reception.) The run ends on February 25. Tickets are $25. Running time is 90 minutes without intermission. Tickets are available at 773-883-1090 or through Ticketmaster 312- 559-1212. Tickets are also available online at www.bailiwick.org or www.ticketmaster.com .
