On Friday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m., Women and Children First Bookstore, 5233 N. Clark, will present a reading and discussion with journalist Norah Vincent, the author of the revealing exposé Self-Made Man: One Woman’s Journey into Manhood and Back Again.
Self-Made Man recounts Vincent’s 18-month experience deep undercover in the milieu of men. Disguising herself to pass as a man she traveled to five different states, exploring various facets of male life. As ‘Ned,’ Vincent joined an all-male bowling league, frequented strip clubs, dated women and even joined a monastery.
