Despite the bitter cold, about 75 people attended ‘When There Were Heroes,’ a remembrance and retrospective of the life of local AIDS activist and political cartoonist Daniel Sotomayor. The event took place Feb. 5 at the Bailiwick Repertory and Arts Center, 1229 W. Belmont. The event—which was emceed by Brian-Mark Conover—commemorated the 15th anniversary of Sotomayor’s passing.
