Jon Imerman, who is basically a one-man organization known as Imerman Angels—a program that matches people up with others who relate to their struggles—is seeking gay cancer survivors who either need or can provide emotional support.

Imerman (who is straight) said that gay cancer survivors have reached out to him, and he would love to have them be able to connect with similar survivors. He has joined the Chicago Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce in his efforts and plans to contact the Lesbian Community Cancer Project.

‘I want to reach out to underserved communities,’ Imerman—a testicular cancer survivor himself—told Windy City Times. ‘People want others who relate to what they’re going through. [This organization] is about emotional support. Doctors work on the medical [aspect].’
