Howard Brown Health Center has announced that it is again the recipient of a grant from the McCormick Tribune Foundation and Cubs Care (the charitable arm of the Chicago Cubs) in support of its Domestic Violence Program, according to a press release from the agency.
Domestic violence occurs when one person uses a pattern of abusive behavior to get and maintain power and control over his or her partner. This abusive behavior can be emotional, verbal, sexual and/or physical in nature—and usually becomes more severe as time passes.
Howard Brown provides refuge for domestic-violence survivors. These services address the unique issues LGBT survivors face, and also provide everything from prevention services to individual counseling.
For more information about the Domestic Violence Program, contact Kathleen Young, coordinator of trauma services, at 773-388-8882.
