Donald W. (Warren) Bowden, Jr., of Chicago, passed away May 8 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was 65.
He was born June 26, 1941, to Donald Warren Bowden, Sr., and Margaret Amsden Bowden in Oak Park, Ill.
He is survived by a brother, Jeffrey A. Bowden, of Tiburon, Calif.; a sister, Nancy Bowden Peterson, of Manhattan, Kan.; a nephew, E. Ragnar Peterson (Lorna), of Riverside, Iowa; and a step-nephew Erik L. Peterson (Karna), of Lindsborg, Kan.
His father, Donald Warren Bowden, Sr.,of Stuart, Fla., also survives. Bowden was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Bowden, who passed away in 1998.
Bowden attended River Forest and Elwood Park schools, and the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. His primary career focused on health care administration. At the time of his death, he was employed by Dixon F. Spivy, M.D., LLC, of Chicago. He had a lifetime interest in current events and American government and, for a time, served as the executive director of the Republican Party in San Francisco.
A memorial celebration of Don’s life will be held Sun., June 3, at 4:30 p.m. at Gentry on State, 440 N. State.
A family graveside service is planned, with burial in the Salemsborg Lutheran Church Cemetery in Smolan, Kan.
