‘Moonstones & Martinis,’ a benefit for former Lesbian Cancer Community Project Interim Executive Director Lisa Tonna, will take place June 9 at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted, 4-8 p.m.
Tonna is noted for her activism regarding such diverse issues as smoking, violence and spiritualism. (For several years, Tonna was the manager of the Center on Halsted’s Anti-Violence Project.) She left her LCCP post after being diagnosed with lung cancer. At the time, she was also starting to run a private therapy practice.
There will be a $10 donation at the event, which will feature, among other things, performances by Jessica Halem and Marline Moore (both of the comedic group Hysterical Women) and Vanessa Davis. For more info, e-mail friendsoflisatonna@gmail.com.
