Halloween may be past, but Alma Dance Company, a fledgling ballet ensemble, keeps the spirit of Halloween alive with the Chicago premiere of Frankenstein Ballet. This production features original choreography by international ballet veterans Suzanne Lek and Guillermo Leyva; an original score by Cuban composer Hector Silveira; and a core of 14 dancers augmented by international guest soloists and principals, as well as dramatic makeup, costuming and special effects. Frankenstein Ballet is a new interpretation by Lek and Leyva of the classic gothic tale by Mary Shelley about love, loss, comedy and tragedy, as a mad scientist assembles body parts of various criminals to create the perfect monster. The show runs for three performances only, Nov. 9-10, North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie, 9501 Skokie. Call 847-673-6300 or visit www.northshorecenter.org. Photo by AUDIA
