Lambda Legal held its seventh annual Freedom to Marry reception Feb. 7 at the National Museum of Mexican Art, 1852 West 19th. Hundreds of attendees came out to take part in events such as cake-cutting and bouquet toss. A pre-event statement from Lambda Legal underscored the importance of the event: ‘With hope that a possible vote on the civil union bill will take place this spring in Illinois, the event will underscore the protections that loving families need, recognizing civil union rights as an important great first step in reducing the harms faced by same-sex couples as we work toward marriage equality.’ Photos by Kat Fitzgerald and Emmanuel Garcia; more photos were at FreedomtoMarry2008 and www.MysticImagesPhotography.com.
