Out Chicago author Dwight Okita has been chosen as a finalist for an Amazon.com publishing contest. Okita is one of 10 finalists for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award.
The openly gay local writer has also been active in Chicago as a performance poet and playwright. If Okita wins, he will receive a publishing contract.
People can cast their vote through March 31 at www.amazon.com/abna.
The winner will be announced April 7.
