Homewood attorney Bill Borah will receive the 2008 Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) Award for Community Leadership June 27 during the annual meeting in St. Louis.
The Committee on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity bestows the honor.
Among other things, Borah saved a teacher’s job in 2005 after a superintendent questioned the educator’s sexual orientation, and obtained a remedy for a transsexual in 2006 when a school would not acknowledge her new name.
